Collecting Student Debt at the Pre-Legal stage
|
LRC offer a variety of services and solutions all aimed at recovering student debt as quickly, professionally and sympathetically as possible. We understand the pressures facing both the student and the college or University; and we realise cases such as these need handling in a completely different manner as to the way in which debts are collected from other industries. The LBAOur standard practice is to send each new debtor a carefully worded LBA (Letter Before Action), explaining the debt and asking for payment to be made within 7 days, else court proceedings may commence. The wording of the LBA is carefully scripted as to give the student a clear understanding of their debt and the possible repercussions of non payment. Collections ProcessShould the LBA prove unsuccessful, unless specifically agreed beforehand, LRC will enter each case into a Collections stage. This represents an alternative to immediate Court action and is designed to obtain payment or negotiate instalment arrangements with your debtor. Its also an ideal way of gathering further information about the student and can help when making decisions on the next course of action. Should the collections process prove unsuccessful, the next course of action would be court action, where we would issue proceedings (should you wish) against the student for recovery of the outstanding debt. |
